The general NYSL policy is that scheduled games are played, "rain or shine". Games are not canceled because of rain if the field is still in playable condition. A wet or muddy field is not sufficient reason to cancel a game. However, the Napa Unified School District determines use of field and can overide the NYSL policy. The NUS District field use guidelines, as well as the health and safety of the players, are considered in the decision.
The NYSL Vice President, in consultation with the Referee Coordinator, can cancel games prior to the scheduled time of play. The only person authorized to cancel a game on the field is the referee scheduled for that game after (s)he personally inspects the field. Coaches cannot cancel the game, even by mutual consent.
In the event of rain, teams should assume that games will be played, and proceed to the field, unless otherwise notified by the Napa Youth Soccer League or their representative. A game postponed because of weather is rescheduled by the Schedule Director.
